After a controversial tweet that got her sitcom cancelled, Roseanne Barr chalked her actions up to “Ambien tweeting.”
Ambien, a sedative, has a variety of potential side effects including anxiety, memory loss, and itching or hives. But Bridgewater-based pharmaceutical company Sanofi US, which manufactures the drug, wanted to publicly state that racism is not one of them.
“People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication,” Sanofi US tweeted Wednesday.
Barr’s original tweet, as well as her tweet referencing the drug, have since been deleted.
