Boutique business law firm A.Y. Strauss is strengthening its practice with the acquisition of Hackensack-based Newman, Simpson & Cohen LLP.

The firm announced the merger May 6. As part of the transaction, A.Y. Strauss will welcome Daniel Simpson, Daniel Cohen and Daniel Stark to its offices in Livingston and New York City.

Founded in 1981, Newman, Simpson & Cohen is a full-service business law firm known for corporate, commercial real estate and litigation work.

Sixteen-year-old A.Y. Strauss specializes in commercial real estate, construction, immigration, labor and employment and corporate bankruptcy.

A.Y. Strauss Managing Partner Aaron Strauss said, “Combining forces with a longstanding and trusted firm like Newman, Simpson & Cohen allows our firm to grow and expand our reach in both developing and established markets across New Jersey and New York.”

He added, “Simpson, Cohen and Stark are talented attorneys with a reputation for excellence and integrity that aligns with our vision at A.Y. Strauss.”

According to the announcement, Simpson will serve as of counsel. Cohen will be a partner and Stark joins as an associate.
