“It feels fantastic to be back home in New Jersey,” former New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur said Wednesday in announcing his appointment as executive vice president of business development for the team he spent 21 years playing for.In the role, Brodeur will report to President Hugh Weber in his pursuit to expand business opportunities for the Newark-based Devils, Prudential Center and community.
“Over 20 years in New Jersey, I was lucky enough to make connections that I can now use to help the Devils grow, not only in this area but beyond,” Brodeur said in a release.
Brodeur spent 22 years as a player in the National Hockey league and holds multiple league records. He led the Devils to the Stanley Cup Championships in 1995, 2000 and 2003.
His post-playing career included a stint in the front office for the St. Louis Blues, where he most recently served as assistant general manager. He will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame this November.
