CareOne opens doors to house elderly Englewood residents in Hurricane Ida’s aftermath

Due to the devastating impact of , countless buildings and businesses across New Jersey were severely damaged and forced to close.

said Sept. 5 it is assisting in temporarily relocating 70 elderly residents from the Englewood Housing Authority to its locations in Oradell and New Milford, and five more residents, along with their service animals, to its Livingston location.

“When we face an emergency such as this brought on by Ida, we need our community to come together and this is what CareOne has done with its generosity. As part of our Englewood community, we are immensely appreciative of their immediate assistance to take in some of our most vulnerable members. We will continue to work with Mayor Michael Wildes and CareOne’s staff to ensure the safety of these residents,” said Executive James Tedesco.

“Like many areas across New Jersey, Englewood was not spared the brunt of the destruction brought on by Ida. In the ensuing aftermath, we found it necessary to temporarily relocate seniors from the Englewood Housing Authority into alternative housing. We reached out to CareOne and are beyond grateful that they provided such considerable support to the city of Englewood. The CareOne organization demonstrates what it means to help neighbors and those in need in such trying times,” said Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes. “We have full confidence in their ability to provide for these residents in such a difficult time.”

CareOne mobilized team members throughout New Jersey to make this transition as comfortable and seamless as possible.

“CareOne immediately took action to assist the Englewood community and establish an urgent and orderly transfer in order to relocate and keep those residents safe,” said CareOne Executive Vice President Elizabeth Straus. “CareOne has teams of dedicated professionals working around the clock to serve our residents and we are closely monitoring their condition in order to provide them with the best experience possible.”
