LG Electronics Chief Strategy Officer William Cho will take on the responsibility of chief executive officer on Dec. 1.
Cho, LG’s top global strategist since 2019, was responsible for establishing LG’s Business Incubation Center and fostering new business opportunities in the form of in-house ventures as well as start-up partners during the six years he was president and CEO of LG North America.
Cho previously spent time as president of LG Canada, LG Australia and LG United States.
Along with Cho’s elevation comes the appointment of Kim Byoung-hoon as chief technology officer. Kim is being promoted from his current role as head of the Future Technology Center to executive vice president, and he will simultaneously assume the roles of chief technology officer and a newly established information and communication technology leadership position.
Thirty-one year LG veteran Jang Ik-hwan is being promoted from senior vice president to executive vice president of the LG Business Solutions Company. According to a Nov. 29 announcement, Ik-hwan successfully grew the IT business portfolio to make LG one of the fastest-growing brands in the notebook, laptop and monitor business. Senior Vice President Eun Seok-hyun has been tapped as president of the vehicle component Solutions Company. Eun was previously responsible for growing the vehicle smart business division.
In the future, LG will reorganize its Customer Satisfaction Management Center into the new Customer Value Innovation Office with oversight by the CSO. According to the release, the CVIO will be able to more effectively identify and incorporate customer feedback and pain points into the product planning, development and sales processes.
All appointments are effective Dec. 1, and promotions will go into effect Jan. 1.
