As part of a move to expand its patent group to meet the growing needs of clients in the area of patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation, Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC added Joseph Saphia as a new co-chair for the practice.
The Roseland-based firm recently announced the appointment of Saphia as co-leader of the group, joining chair Jeffrey Weinick.
Saphia came on board at the firm in early 2022 with more than 20 years of experience representing tech startups, international pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer goods companies. Also head of CSG Law‘s life sciences team, his practice is focused on patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation.
In a statement, Saphia said, “I look forward to working with Jeffrey Weinick to expand the services available to clients in the Patent Group.”
Weinick, a registered patent attorney who focuses on patent rights acquisition and intellectual property assets management, as well as the licensing and enforcement of IP rights, said, “The seamless integration of litigators into the expanded Patent Group allows us to better align with client needs, allowing us to collaborate more effectively and efficiently and to take advantage of synergies.”
With a team made up of former in-house senior IP counsel, engineers and registered patent attorneys, CSG Law’s patent group helps its clients with patent searches and opinions, patent preparation, patent prosecution and third-party defensive work.
The group has also earned numerous accolades, including recognitions in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and the IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals.
