The state’s second-largest credit union, based on membership, will bring on a new leader this summer.

First Harvest Credit Union‘s board of directors announced Michael Dinneen as its next president and chief executive officer June 14. His appointment is effective July 1.

“At this pivotal time in the history of , we believe that Michael Dinneen is the right leader to propel the organization forward,” Loretta Winters, First Harvest chairwoman, said in a statement.

Dinneen comes to the Deptford financial institution from American Heritage Credit Union, a $4.5 billion entity that operates in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. There, he served as senior vice president of marketing and business development, leading the credit union’s community outreach, marketing and business development initiatives, First Harvest said, including its $600 million Workplace Partnership Program. As a member of the senior management team, Dinneen was also a member of American Heritage’s ALCO, Fair Lending, Steering and Risk Management committees.

Before American Heritage, Dinneen served as senior vice president of marketing, communications, and investor relations as well as interim chief information security officer at $2.3 billion Sun National Bank, which operated in New Jersey and New York before being acquired by OceanFirst Bank. He also served as an adjunct instructor at Gwynedd Mercy University for more than a decade.

“I am honored to partner with the employees and Board of First Harvest Credit Union,” Dinneen said. “Together, we will embark on a journey that will provide our fellow members, our Sponsored Employee Groups, and our community partners with best-in-class financial solutions, financial education, financial inclusion and seamless delivery.”

According to First Harvest, Dinneen is a frequent speaker and panelist at credit union educational events and conferences and has been a member of the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council, its Engagement Committee and has been active in a variety of credit union associations.

In 2022, Dinneen was recognized in South Jersey Biz’s Who’s Who in Banking feature, and he has been regularly featured as a credit union thought leader in multiple publications and podcasts, including Credit Union Times and Financial Brand.

A longtime South Jersey resident, First Harvest said Dinneen is involved with a variety of local nonprofit organizations.

First Harvest Credit Union serves more than 43,000 members and over 700 employee groups throughout South Jersey. Its presence extends to the Jersey Shore, with eight full-service locations in New Jersey and one in Williamsport, Pa.
