Nestlé Health Science U.S. has appointed Brian Groves as chief marketing officer, effective Sept. 11, the Hoboken-based company announced Aug. 22.

Bringing more than 30 years of experience in performance marketing and brand management, Groves will oversee the company’s Commercial Excellence team and be responsible for driving business growth and customer satisfaction as well as delivering on the organization’s digital media and marketing strategy. 

In a statement, Don Kerrigan, CEO of Nestlé Health Science U.S., said Groves “will play a crucial role in accelerating the growth and evolution of our dynamic wellness and nutrition portfolio, empowering patients and consumers to lead healthier lives.” 

Groves comes to Nestlé from Meta, formerly known as Facebook, which he joined in 2014 and where he held various leadership positions, most recently vice president for global CPG clients and categories. In this role, he was responsible for global revenue, strategic partnership growth, and go-to-market strategy for the CPG vertical.  

Groves has also held high-level positions at Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, where he was CMO, as well as with Callaway Golf Co. and Johnson & Johnson Consumer Healthcare – which recently separated from its New Brunswick-based parent and is now called Kenvue. 

According to his LinkedIn profile, Groves earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Boston College and his MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.

Nestlé also announced it elevated Gabriella Viljoen to vice president of eCommerce for the U.S. business, effective Sept. 4. In this new role, Viljoen will be responsible for developing and managing marketing activities across multiple marketplaces to drive sales and optimize spend across the U.S. business. 

In 2020, Viljoen joined Nestlé Health Science brand Garden of Life, where she held roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as vice president of Amazon strategy. 

Both Groves and Viljoen will report to Kerrigan. The company did not immediately respond to a question about whom the new appointments succeeded. 

A business unit of Switzerland-based Nestlé, Nestlé Health Science’s portfolio includes consumer health, medical nutrition, pharmaceutical therapies, and vitamin and supplement brands such as Boost, Nature’s Bounty, Carnation Breakfast Essentials and Osteo Bi-Flex.
