A cannabis dispensary developed by a South Jersey healthcare entrepreneur and philanthropist is celebrating its launch.

Founded by Bryant Greene, Uncle Beez Greeneryz in officially began welcoming customers May 30. The launch came about a year after Greene broke ground on the brand-new 3,200-square-foot shop on South Virginia Avenue.

The 100% minority-owned adult-use dispensary offers products sourced from licensed New Jersey operators.

It also has a loyalty program for customers, as well as discounts for Penns Grove residents, seniors, active military members, veterans, medical marijuana patients, college students, essential workers and those employed by New Jersey’s cannabis industry.

“My goal is simple: to make the cannabis experience more welcoming, educational and community-centered – especially in communities historically left out of economic opportunities in the industry,” Greene told NJBIZ. “I am super excited to expand my entrepreneurial spirit in the legal retail cannabis realm.”

Seeing Greene

According to Greene, the store has a staff of 13 employees.

Through Uncle Beez Greeneryz, he also aims to give back through local initiatives, partnerships and programs that support the community.

Greene is already well known in the region as a leading franchisee with non-medical in-home care and assisted living referral services provider Always Best Care Senior Services.

Since joining the network in 2010, Greene has become one of Always Best Care’s largest and most successful operators. His team of over 1,000 caregivers covers parts of Delaware and Pennsylvania.

He also hosts his own weekly radio show in Philadelphia designed to connect listeners with home, business and community resources they may ordinarily not know about.

Greene’s outreach includes owning and operating a 13-acre nonprofit farm in Sewell that facilitates rehoming unwanted, discarded horses, ponies, donkeys, cats and dogs.

Additionally, he regularly supports groups like the Boys & Girls Club, the Alzheimer’s Association, Overbrook School for the Blind and the Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.

From Point A to Point Beez

Getting Uncle Beez Greeneryz up and running took almost four-and-a-half years, according to Greene.

As part of the process, he worked with a team from Philadelphia-based law firm Dilworth Paxson LLP. Partners Kiliaen Strong and Christina Strong advised him at every stage of the process, including helping secure a Class 5 retail license, managing inspections and ensuring regulatory compliance.

They assisted with developing compliant operations for security and navigated local approvals with the borough council, planning board and zoning authorities, too. The team also offered support with finding a site for the dispensary, as well as representing Greene in negotiations for the ground-up construction and design of the facility.

Kiliaen Strong said, “We are so proud to have partnered with Dr. Greene in navigating a complex regulatory and development journey to bring his vision to life. The process spanned our firm’s capabilities in cannabis regulatory, real estate, corporate, construction and land use and municipal law practices, demonstrating the kind of comprehensive solutions Dilworth Paxson provides to its various cannabis clients.”
