Construction is underway on The Legacy, a 74,000-square-foot residential building coming to Orange.
Avison Young announced the start of the project Sept. 13. The firm is providing construction services and serving as general contractor for the five-story, 51-unit building coming to 751 Vose Ave. from developer – and former professional football player – Kimble Wright.
According to AY, the luxury residential project is inspired by Wright’s dream to give back to the community and to leave “a lasting mark for himself, his family, and the neighborhood.” The Legacy will offer a mix of one- and two-bedroom units with parking, common spaces, rooftop terrace and fitness center, all near the Mountain Avenue NJ Transit Station.
AY said the ground-up construction project is expected to take 12 months.
The team, based in Avison Young’s Morristown office, will be led by Director of Construction Management Tony Bienert. AY said it will orchestrate work with all project subcontractors and review task durations and sequencing, while working to foster collaboration across the team for collective buy-in and commitment to achieve key milestones.
“Leading projects with the size and complexity of The Legacy sits right at the nexus of our team’s capabilities to deliver on time and on budget,” Bienert said in a statement. “When Kimble engaged Avison Young, he had already gone through the extensive approvals process and was ready to start building. We partnered very closely with him and his owner’s rep team, Mills Management LLC, to identify the best strategies to successfully maximize potential areas for savings in both time and costs.”
Other members of the AY project team include Senior Project Manager Jay Singer, Project Managers Jeff Bennett and Jeff Zerillo, and Project Coordinator Samantha Martinez.
“It was Avison Young’s reputation in the industry that led us to partner with them to deliver The Legacy to the market,” Wright said in a prepared statement. “We are confident that Tony and his team will help us meet our ambitious goals with this new building, which are to inspire our community to help each other and fulfill their dreams.”
Lee & Associates arranged $12.5 million in construction financing for the project back in 2020.
