To mark National Peach Month, the will distribute free peaches to beachgoers at the Jersey Shore.

As part of an effort to highlight the state’s peach season, NJDA’s marketing staff will be out Aug. 22 – National Eat a Peach Day – in Wildwood, Seaside Heights and Atlantic City to give away produce.

Peaches are available starting at 11:30 a.m. until supplies last at the following locations:

  • Wildwood: at the end of East Schellenger Avenue at the boardwalk near Morey’s Piers
  • Seaside Heights: near the end of Grant Avenue in Seaside Heights
  • Atlantic City: at the end of New York Avenue near Rita’s Water Ice

New Jersey is annually among the top producers of peaches. In 2023, the state harvested 28.4 million pounds of peaches on 3,000 acres for a production value of $29 million. Last year it was the fourth-ranked state for peach production, according to the United States Department of Agriculture.

NJDA Secretary Ed Wengryn encouraged shore residents and visitors to take advantage of the upcoming promotion for National Each a Peach Day.

“If you can’t hit one of our Jersey Shore tasting sites, sweet and juicy Jersey Fresh peaches are available now at your favorite retailers and farm markets or better yet visit one of our pick-your-own farms found at www.FindJerseyFresh.com,” he said.

New Jersey’s peach season begins in July and lasts into September.

Throughout summer and into the fall you can pick your own at Phillips Farms in Milford. According to its website, the season kicks off with strawberries, beginning at the end of May and lasting through mid-June. The farm also offers pick-your-own blueberries, black raspberries, peaches, red raspberries and apples.
