Gov. Murphy signs bill establishing STEM education program

Gov. Phil Murphy signed into law a bill establishing a STEM program intended to help provide nonpublic school children with the resources essential to succeeding in the technologically driven world.

The New Jersey Legislature passed Senate Bill 2660, which will provide grants for STEM teachers in nonpublic schools. The bill takes effect immediately.

Primary sponsors of the bill were Sens. Paul Sarlo, D-36th District, and Vin Gopal, D-11th District, and Assembly Members Joann Downey, D-11th District; Eric Houghtaling, D-11th District; and Gary Schaer, D-36th District.

Assembly Members Daniel Benson, D-14th District; Wayne DeAngelo, D-14th District; Gordon Johnson, D-37th District; Pamela Lampitt, D-6th District; Yvonne Lopez, D-19th District; and Valerie Vainieri Huttle, D-37th District, co-sponsored the bill.
