Five years after entering the market, Humana Inc.’s Advantage plan is now available across all of New Jersey following the company’s expansion to Middlesex County.

Humana, which offers insurance coverage as well as health care services via CenterWell, announced the milestone last week. Now, the company will offer 2024 health plans in each Garden State county.

The Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan Annual Election Period runs Oct. 15-Dec. 7 for coverage taking effect Jan. 1, 2024.

“As a longtime New Jersey resident, I’m beyond thrilled that we now have health plan coverage throughout the whole state,” Humana Northeast Region Medicare President Julie Mascari said in a statement. “Since we launched in this market … expanding the affordable and comprehensive Medicare options to beneficiaries here, we have received a positive response from the members we serve and our physician and clinician partners who work hard every day to provide quality medical care.”

Humana is a Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO organization with a Medicare contract.

According to the Louisville, Ky.-based company, its Medicare Advantage plans offer New Jersey residents affordable alternatives to Original Medicare only or Original Medicare combined with a Medicare Supplement plan. In addition to the benefits afforded by Medicare, members are covered for hearing, dental, vision and prescription drugs on most plans, Humana said.

In the community

Humana was one of the exhibitors at the Senior Resource Expo held in May at the Cherry Hill Mall, an affiliate of PREIT. Presented by Camden County Network Connections, the event aimed to educate the community, social workers, care managers and care coordinators about available senior resources.
