Following its April 23 bankruptcy filing, Union-based Bed Bath & Beyond has begun liquidation sales across its 360 namesake stores and 120 BuyBuy Baby locations nationwide.

Managed by Hilco Merchant Resources, Gordon Brothers, Tiger Capital Group and B. Riley, the sales are part of efforts to wind down the struggling chain’s business by the end of June.

In an April 29 press release, a representative for the liquidation event said, “This is an opportunity to save on household items or stock up on baby essentials at discounted prices. New merchandise is arriving in stores and top-selling items from the most sought-after brands will be discounted and will sell out very quickly.”

“We encourage shoppers to take advantage of these new price reductions before it’s too late. Whether celebrating the birth of a baby or a new graduate, or for someone who enjoys cooking, gardening, or decorating, this unique sales event offers something for everyone,” the spokesperson said.

Discounts of 10% to 30% off the lowest ticketed prices are now available on “a wide range of home, baby, beauty and wellness products” at Bed Bath & Beyond and BuyBuy Baby, the companies said.

According to the press release, Bed Bath & Beyond sales event includes bedding, bath, décor, window curtains, furniture, kitchenware, cookware, small appliances, cleaning tools, storage, personal care items and luggage.

The BuyBuy Baby sales event includes nursery furniture, cribs, bassinets, play yards, activity sets, strollers, car seats, travel gear, bouncers, swings, nursing & feeding supplies, clothing, accessories, bath products, diaper solutions, toys and health & safety products.

Select fixtures, furnishings and equipment will also be available for purchase in closing locations, according to the announcement.

Returns and exchanges will be processed through May 24 for items purchased before April 23; gift cards, merchandise credits and loyalty rewards will be accepted through May 8

Although Bed Bath & Beyond officially stopped accepting its Big Blue coupons April 26 in order to deeply discount items for closing sales, some of the chain’s competitors have stepped in to honor the discounts.

Through May 7, discount furniture and home décor retailer Big Lots will let shoppers turn in expired Bed Bath & Beyond coupons to receive 20% off their entire purchase of $50 or more.

East Coast department store chain Boscov’s will also honor unused coupons until May 31, giving customers $10 off any purchase of $50 or more, according to the company’s website.

The Container Store, which sells home storage and organization supplies, is giving 20% off a single item to shoppers who bring in “a competitor’s blue coupon” through the end of the month.

JoAnn Fabric & Craft recently announced a similar offer, giving a 20% discount on a single item in exchange for a unexpired Bed Bath & Beyond coupon.
