Former Sen. Ray Lesniak lobbied for the passage of a new tax incentive program, Barbara Kauffman, of the Newark Regional Business Partnership and Executive Women of New Jersey talked up diversity in corporate leadership and Angela Garretson, a Union County freeholder and chief external affairs officer at NJIT looked for connections on issues related to redevelopment in Newark and her home county. And it all happened on the 83rd annual New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Walk to Washington, a chartered train trip from Newark to the nation’s capital.
The three riders also sat down for interviews on the NJBIZ Podcast, recorded on the train. Other guests included Aisha Glover, president and CEO of the Newark Alliance; Raj Parikh, a partner at Genova Burns; and Jose Lozano, president and CEO of Choose New Jersey.
In addition, NJBIZ spoke to Amy Mansue, executive vice president and chief experience officer at RWJBarnabas Health, about the importance of addressing the social determinants of health and what RWJBH is doing to become a positive force in the communities the system serves. Mansue will receive the Chamber’s seventh annual Thomas H. Kean Sr. Leadership Award at the event’s annual dinner in Washington.
