Anthony Iacullo is joining as a partner in the Roseland-based law firm’s litigation and white collar & criminal defense practice groups.

A seasoned litigator with nearly three decades of experience, Iacullo has focused his practice on representing clients facing serious criminal charges, such as wire and health care fraud, drug offenses, sexual assaults, robbery, kidnapping, money laundering and murder.

He has also represented thousands of clients, including several high-profile individuals such as:

  • Former Gov. Chris Christie’s press secretary, Michael Drewniak, in Bridgegate hearings before the House and Senate committees regarding the September 2013 lane closures at the George Washington Bridge
  • Former Asbury Park Mayor Kenneth Saunders in a federal bribery trial concerning redevelopment of the city’s waterfront
  • One of two dozen West New York police officers in the largest police corruption case in new Jersey’s history

Before his arrival at Mandelbaum, he was a partner for nearly 20 years at Iacullo, Martino & Reintz in Nutley.

Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a criminal trial attorney, he is admitted to practice in New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court of New Jersey.

Iacullo’s background also includes serving as an assistant prosecutor at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office from 1992 to 1995. During that time, he handled a range of criminal cases, including high-profile matters involving drug offenses and homicides.

Iacullo – who received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Seton Hall University – is also active in professional organizations, like the New Jersey State Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association’s Criminal Bench-Bar Committee and the Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys of New Jersey.

‘Second to none’

He has also received the Criminal Trial Attorney Achievement Award from the Essex County Bar Association and is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.

On joining Mandelbaum, Iacullo commented, “Criminal defense and litigation overall are multifaceted and have become increasingly more complex areas of law with different types of issues and discovery woven into the fabric of every case. Mandelbaum Barrett offers extensive resources, as well as surrounding talent of attorneys, and technical staff to organize and breakdown the details of such matters and weave them into a successful outcome for our clients.”

Robert Scrivo, co-chair of the white collar & criminal defense practice, recalled befriending Iacullo 30 years ago when the two were young assistant prosecutors in Bergen County.

“Tony’s skill in the courtroom has only flourished since then, and that is why today, he is regarded as one of the state’s best trial attorneys. Partnering with Tony, and the experience he brings to the firm, will provide meaningful value to our white collar & criminal defense practice and all of our clients. We welcome Tony with open arms,” he said.

Damian Conforti, co-chair of the white collar & criminal defense group, praised Iacullo’s background, saying, “His track record as a trial attorney is second to none, and his eagerness to meet the next courtroom challenge unparalleled.”

“Robert and I are incredibly fortunate for the opportunity to partner with Tony … We jumped at the chance to have Tony join our team,” he said.
