New Jersey’s two biggest candy companies want to make sure every house is prepared to welcome trick-or-treaters this Halloween.
For the 10th year in a row, Mars Wrigley will hit the streets of Newark to celebrate the holiday in the city where its iconic M&M’s candy was born.
Partnering with the City of Newark, the candymaker will hold free community-wide events Oct. 19 at JFK Recreation Center (211 W. Kinney St.) and Oct. 20 at Boylan Recreation Center (916 S. Orange Ave.). The celebration will run from noon to 5 p.m. both days.
The event will feature treat bags filled with Mars candy, a selection of free costume accessories and other goodies. The festivities will also include a karaoke station, interactive art station, pumpkin patch and “trick-or-treating” door.
The event will also accommodate attendees with sensory sensitivities. Mars will have a designated “sensory/quiet zone” for those with neurodivergence or who need to step away from the festivities.
Additionally, the Newark-headquartered chocolate and candy giant is once again partnering with digital delivery service Gopuff this season. Mars will offer free candy delivery to participating locations in 30 minutes or less, while supplies last, starting at 5 p.m. Oct. 31.
Mars will also debut candy pop-ups in areas that experienced the most “out-of-candy” calls to the M&M’s Rescue Squad in 2023 – Westfield in the Garden State and Philadelphia, Pa.
According to the company, its “M&M’s Halloween Rescue BOO-ths” will set up from 5-8 p.m. in Westfield at the corner of Edgewood Avenue and Clark Street on Halloween. It will also exhibit in Philadelphia between 6-8 p.m.
The Park Ridge-headquartered company is celebrating the launch of Welch’s Juicefuls Monster Splash by giving 50 homes free full-sized boxes of the new snack.
As part of the sweepstakes, PIM Brands will send a personal butler to select winners to help manage the trick-or-treat door traffic that comes with being a house known for handing out something special on Halloween.
Welch’s Juicefuls Monster Splash are filled fruit snacks that come in fun Halloween shapes and flavors, like orange pumpkins, grape skulls and strawberry ghosts. The treat is available at leading retailers nationwide.
According to PIM Brands, the product is also gluten-free and contain colors from natural sources.
The deadline to enter is Oct. 24.
