Matrix breaks ground on Staten Island logistics park

Cranbury-based Matrix Development Group has broken ground on the first two buildings in its Matrix Global Logistics Park in Staten Island, it announced Thursday.Matrix said in a media statement that the start of construction could lead to more than 3,000 jobs in the New York borough, including about 1,800 permanent positions and 1,400 construction jobs.

The two buildings include a 975,000-square-foot facility and a 450,000-square-foot one, with two more buildings planned at the site. Construction on the first two facilities is scheduled to be completed in spring 2017.

Matrix said the site offers access to other boroughs in the city, as well as Long Island and the New Jersey ports.

Joseph S. Taylor, Matrix’s CEO and president; James S. Oddo, borough president; and Steven Matteo, city council minority leader, were among the officials present at the event.
