Description: Founded in 1897, Middlesex Water Company designs, builds and operates water and wastewater systems in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania, through a variety of contract operations and public/private partnerships with municipal and industrial clients. It recently ventured into the energy business via anaerobic digestion technology. The technology allows Middlesex Water to harness energy generated by effluent passing through wastewater treatment plants.

Philanthropy: Over the past year, Middlesex Water has donated bottled water to numerous fundraising events, such as Swim Across America in Metuchen and the Pink Ribbon Run in Perth Amboy. The company also has contributed time and money to charitable endeavors and taken part in educational initiatives focused on smart water use.

New Products/Services: This year, the company is taking over ownership and operation, under a 50-year contract, of the water system infrastructure at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
