The founder of one of New Jersey’s oldest development firms will be among those honored this spring at NAIOP New Jersey’s annual awards gala. The commercial real estate development association said Tuesday that Lawrence Russo Jr., founder of Carlstadt-based Russo Development, will receive the group’s lifetime achievement award at the May 15 event in the Somerset section of Franklin. The former commercial real estate broker established the company in 1969, growing it to a firm that has developed more than 7 million square feet of commercial space and is now moving into the multifamily sector.
NAIOP also will present its “Impact Award” to Vision Real Estate Partners and Robert J. Donnelly of Cushman & Wakefield, the organization said. Jorge Berkowitz of Langan Engineering and Environmental Services will receive the industry service award.
NAIOP’s annual gala, a who’s who of New Jersey commercial real estate, is routinely one of the industry’s biggest and most well-attended events. Steven J. Pozycki, founder, chairman and CEO of Parsippany-based SJP Properties, was among last year’s honorees as the lifetime achievement award recipient.
At this year’s event, the organization also will announce the winners of its deal of the year awards.
