To celebrate the July 1 theatrical release of Illumination’s “Minions & Monsters,” Xfinity is rolling out an immersive pop-up based on the record-breaking animated franchise.
The limited-time activation launched June 15 at all 700 Xfinity stores nationwide. The rollout includes 23 locations in New Jersey, the Comcast NBCUniversal-owned company said.
As part of the experience, customers can step into an exclusive augmented reality experience that lets them interact with characters from the film. Or, they can pose for photos with larger-than-life Minions installations inspired by the movie at select locations. While supplies last, Xfinity members also can take home limited-time Minions collective drops, like pins and t-shirts.
Xfinity is extending the celebration beyond stores and into theaters with special experiences for members.
All members will have access to a $5 Fandango Movie Cash offer and be able to purchase tickets for early access screenings of the film through Fandango, while supplies last; plus the ability to download “Minions & Monsters” digital experience kits directly through the Xfinity app. Diamond members can also enter to win tickets to VIP screenings in Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, Chicago and San Francisco, Xfinity said.
The Minions’ takeover will run through July 5, according to Xfinity.
The company is also using the campaign to showcase one of its newest services. Xfinity recently became the first major wired internet provider to offer same-day Wi-Fi connectivity.
“It’s fast, easy and almost as much fun as the Minions themselves,” the company said, adding that the “Imagine That” collaboration shows “getting connected doesn’t have to be mayhem – it can feel like magic.”
