Twenty-two New Jersey hospitals were recognized by the Department of Health earlier this month for developing top performing antimicrobial stewardship programs.
The New Jersey Antimicrobial Stewardship Recognition Awards is a voluntary, incentive program that encourages health care facilities to assess how well they are applying the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Core Elements of Antibiotic Stewardship, a set of key principles to guide efforts to improve antibiotic use, advance patient safety, and improve outcomes.
The Antimicrobial Stewardship Recognition Program acknowledges health care facilities and physician practices that demonstrate, through written documentation, they have met or exceeded minimum expectations for CDC’s Core Elements of Antimicrobial Stewardship. This recognition is based solely on satisfaction of CDC criteria.
Applicants from acute care hospitals and post-acute care facilities were recognized as Gold, Silver, or Bronze awardees, based on the difficulty of ASP interventions.
