Amazon said it has invested more than $55 billion in New Jersey since 2010 to support infrastructure and employee compensation.
The e-commerce giant highlighted local commitments to innovation, job creation and community development across the state as part of a recently released economic impact report.
Amazon established a presence in New Jersey back in 2008. Since then, the company said it has developed the state into a “thriving innovation and logistics hub for Amazon.”
Its New Jersey operations now have more than 42,000 full- and part-time employees. Additionally, the company supports more than 30,000 indirect jobs in areas like construction, logistics and professional services.
The company’s footprint includes 24 fulfillment and sortation centers, 23 delivery stations, 1 Prime Now fulfillment center and 1 Amazon Hub Locker+ location.
Amazon also operates 25 Whole Food Market stores statewide, as well as 15 solar farms.
The company has expanded its innovative primary care model into New Jersey through a partnership with Hackensack Meridian Health, too. After launching the state’s first Amazon One Medical location last year in Edgewater, the partners also added sites in Jersey City and Englewood.
In 2025, N.J.-based independent sellers sold more than 248 million items through Amazon. Per seller, average annual sales tally about $540,000, the company said.
Other highlights include filming three Amazon MGM Studios productions in New Jersey: “I Play Rocky”, “Alone at Dawn” and “Hillside Strangler.” Amazon MGM is among the many major Hollywood players helping New Jersey make gains in both filming count and production spend.
Overall, Amazon says it has contributed more than $60 billion to New Jersey’s gross domestic product since 2010.
The company also reported that over 6,400 in-state workers have participated in its free education and skills training program over the past six years. Amazon now has 14 education partners statewide that participate in its Career Choice program, which prepays tuition for employees.
As for community outreach, the company said it donated $1 million to 50 local groups along with 200,000 meals on behalf of food banks and nonprofits. Other giving efforts include volunteer work by 3,000 employees as well as reaching 40,000 students and 2,000 teachers through Amazon-supported education programs.
Overall, the multinational technology company and world’s largest retailer pumped a record $340 billion into the U.S. last year. That brings its total investment in the economy up to $1.8 trillion over the past 16 years.
According to the Amazon, it supports 1 million direct jobs in the form of full- and part-time workers and 1 million in indirect jobs in construction, logistics and suppliers.
Independent sellers now account for 60% of all items sold on Amazon’s store. Those merchants provided more than $100 billion in wages to U.S. employees in 2025, the company said.
Amazon Chief Global Affairs & Legal Officer David Zapolsky said the company’s investment “reflects our strong commitment to America’s future.”
“We’re building AI and operations infrastructure to keep the U.S. at the forefront of innovation and global competitiveness, creating jobs in communities of all sizes, and supporting our workforce with industry-leading pay and benefits.
Our investments benefit everyone: the customers we serve, our 1 million American employees, small businesses selling in our stores, the places where we operate, and the U.S. economy as a whole.
