When you can’t go anywhere or do anything, treating yourself to a candy bar can offer sweet relief from the lockdown blues. No one knows that better than Paul Chibe, who has a long history in the confectionery industry. Today he is the CEO of Parsippany-based Ferrero North America, the U.S. and Canadian business of Italian candy maker Ferrero Group. Chibe is also the recently installed chair of the National Confectioners Association. In the latest edition of NJBIZ Conversations, Editor Jeff Kanige spoke with Chibe about how the company and the industry managed during the pandemic, what he expects from the big candy-giving holidays coming up this spring and what his priorities are in his national role. “The interest of the confectionery association primarily to make sure that we’re free to develop this robust business that is a major key employer in the United States. And you know it’s represented by large companies, but it’s also represented by a vast number of family-owned companies, independent companies that really represent kind of the American dream,” he said. “My role is to do all I can to make sure that we have the commercial freedom for that vibrant industry to thrive into the future.” Watch the full interview HERE.
