It wasn’t easy to convince supermarket operators to put a refrigerator in the pet food aisle, but Freshpet managed to just that after it was founded in 2006. Today, the Secaucus-based pet food maker says it boasts a network of more than 20,000 retailers around North America.
The company was founded to produce high-quality pet food and to make the world a better place. “When we started Freshpet, we knew we could make better foods for pets,” Freshpet says on its website. “In the process of building the company, we wanted to change the industry through positive innovation that is good for pets, pet parents and the planet all at the same time.”
For this edition of NJBIZ Conversations, Freshpet co-founder, President and COO Scott Morris talks about the company’s inception, its growth over nearly two decades and how it does right by the planet.
