NJM Insurance Group has elected the first woman CEO in the West Trenton-based company’s 112-year history.

During a July 25 meeting, the NJM board of directors formally approved Carol Voorhees as its president and CEO.

Voorhees joined the company in 1996. Since, she has steadily rose through the ranks and played an instrumental role. She most recently served as executive vice president and COO. Voorhees assumed that post in 2024.

“I am truly honored to lead NJM,” said Voorhees in a July 29 press release. “After 29 years of service, I understand NJM’s value proposition and what makes us special – providing outstanding service to our policyholders.”

She becomes the 10th chief executive officer in NJM’s history, succeeding retiring Mitch Livingston.

“Carol’s experience has played an integral role in NJM’s strategic expansion and technology upgrades,” said Edward Stern, chairman of  the board of directors. “Her leadership and commitment to delivering outstanding service to our policyholders made her the unanimous choice to lead the company.”

Voorhees added, “As we begin this new chapter, I look forward to continuing NJM’s mission of serving the needs of our customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.”
