The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program () announced March 21 it is passing the torch of the to the New Jersey Business & Industry Association ().

The organizations say the transition is part of a strategic partnership. The effort aims to amplify the influence of New Jersey’s manufacturing sector as well as foster a more business-friendly environment. They note the move also marks a significant milestone in the “Manufacturing Counts” partnership between NJMEP and NJBIA — a united effort toward bolstering the sector.

The annual Trenton event brings together industry leaders and stakeholders with government officials, lawmakers and media for a day of panel discussions, networking, product showcases and more.

NJMEP noted how the Summit has bridged the engagement gap between the state and its manufacturers. Recognizing the need for enhanced advocacy, it is handing the event off to NJBIA. The manufacturing association pointed to NJBIA’s robust lobbying capabilities, dedication to a pro-business climate, and commitment to integrating the manufacturing sector’s interests into its advocacy.

These efforts, the NJMEP says, benefit not just the manufacturing sector but also the state’s broader business community.

‘The greater good’

In a press release, NJMEP Chief Executive Officer Peter Connolly said his organization is excited about the potential from this partnership with NJBIA.

“And we treasure our continuing partnership with NJMEP, the foremost provider of resources and programming for New Jersey manufacturers,” said Siekerka. “As this crucial industry faces continued workforce challenges and costly burdens that chip away at our competitiveness, we are eager to build upon the success of the State-of-the-State of Manufacturing Summit and use it to present, amplify, and contextualize the needs and concerns of our manufacturers with policymakers to ensure a better business climate from which to operate.”

NJMEP and NJBIA say they are focused on ensuring a seamless transition of the Summit. The organizations underscored their commitment to supporting the local manufacturing industry while sharing a collective vision for a thriving New Jersey business ecosystem.

“This is a testament to what we can achieve when we unite our strengths for the greater good of New Jersey’s economic future,” Connolly added.
