The founder of Geltrude & Co. is, well, everywhere. He proudly claims the title of America’s Accountant, a function of his wide-ranging media work. By his count, he made 260 national television appearances in 2022.
But Geltrude has also earned accolades from his peers, being named as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Accountants in the U.S. by Accounting Today magazine and receiving a 2022 Innovation Award from the NJCPA. He has sat – by appointment of the governor – on the state Board of Accountancy since 2010; served on the board of two successful banking institutions over a 15-year period and currently continues with a third in an advisory capacity; and holds a license for life, health and disability insurance.
He’s also an adjunct accounting professor at Montclair State University, an Accounting Advisory Board member for both Montclair State and Rider University, and sits on the board of trustees for the business school at Saint Peter’s University.
In addition, Geltrude developed a Work for Credit model for CPA students. Saint Peter’s and PriceWaterhouseCoopers completed a pilot program along those lines this past May. According to Geltrude, the AICPA based its nationwide model on the New Jersey program. “Work for Credit was groundbreaking in the field of accounting and is changing the entire model for how accountants are educated and qualify to become CPAs,” he says.
