One of the most influential leaders in this space throughout the Garden State, Hart has been at helm of BioNJ since its inception in 1994.
She played a pivotal role throughout the pandemic response and has been an integral part of the state’s efforts to continue building its robust life sciences community while spurring the burgeoning innovation economy.
In February, BioNJ marked a milestone with the 30th anniversary of its Annual Dinner Meeting & Innovation Celebration, which celebrates the state’s life sciences industry and honors medical innovation.
“As always, tonight is dedicated to you, New Jersey’s remarkable life sciences ecosystem making the dreams of patients around the world come true,” Hart told a packed room gathered in East Brunswick in February. “In 2022, nearly 50% of new FDA approvals came from companies with a footprint in New Jersey, officially continuing our legacy as the ‘Medicine Chest of the World.’”
In September, Hart was appointed as chair of the Commission on Science Innovation and Technology.
“Debbie has a long history of advocating for young, innovative companies in the Garden State and her decades of involvement has helped shape New Jersey’s innovation ecosystem and make it the ideal place for startups to grow and flourish,” said Gov. Phil Murphy in announcing her appointment.
