A New Jersey propane supplier has merged with a larger Massachusetts company, according to a report published Thursday. The New Jersey Herald said Eastern Propane, based in Oak Ridge, is joining forces with Osterman Propane, based in Whitinsville, Massachusetts. The combined company would supply propane in the mid-Atlantic and New England regions.

Financial terms were not disclosed, the report said.

According to the Herald, Eastern Propane serves about 15,000 customers in northwest New Jersey, southern New York and northeastern Pennsylvania. The company has about 80 employees. Osterman Propane, meanwhile, serves nearly 120,000 customers in New York and New England, the report said.

Robert B. Nicholson III, president of Eastern Propane, and Vincent Osterman, president of Osterman Propane, told the Herald customers should not see any corporate name change or service change. They both said there will be no layoffs of employees or any management changes, either.
