Suburban Propane is kicking off its partnership with NASCAR and Speedway Motorsports into high gear.
In addition to running its first race sponsorship at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, the Whippany-based distributor used the April 11 NASCAR-sanctioned event to unveil a new mascot.
Suburban Propane introduced PhilMore the Bobtail trackside at the Suburban Propane 300. The character aims to boost fan engagement and put a friendly face on the company’s brand.

Throughout race weekend, Suburban Propane played an active role. The company supported operations including track drying during inclement weather as well as fueling concessions and campground activities.
Suburban Propane President and CEO Michael Stivala served as grand marshal. Meanwhile local Customer Service Manager George Bevins waved the green flag, the company said.
The sponsorship builds on Suburban Propane’s growing relationship with one of the most popular sporting events in the U.S.
As part of a multiyear partnership announced in January 2025, Suburban Propane became the first Official Propane of NASCAR and Speedway Motorsports.
Under the terms of the arrangement, Suburban Propane serves as official propane supplier for major speedways across the U.S. The collaboration also involves on-site services for campers during NASCAR events, propane for in-stadium concessions and year-round support services at track properties.
Suburban Propane spokesperson Nandini Sankara remarked, “Bringing the Suburban Propane 300 to life at one of NASCAR’s most iconic tracks was an incredible moment for our brand. … It was a powerful way to connect our energy solutions with the passion of motorsports,” she said.
Bristol Motor Speedway President Jerry Caldwell said, “We’re proud and grateful that Suburban Propane played such an important role in the success of the weekend.”
He went on, “Weekends like this do not happen without great partners, and Suburban Propane delivered in a big way. … [T]hey helped power our operations and the over-all fan experience.”
Founded in 1928, Suburban Propane is a nationwide distributor of propane, renewable propane, renewable natural gas, fuel oil and related products and services, as well as a marketer of natural gas and electricity. It also produces and invests in low carbon fuel alternatives.
The company services the energy needs of approximately 1 million residential, commercial, governmental, industrial and agricultural customers. It boasts approximately 750 locations nationwide.
