Guests and employees at Wyndham Hotel & Resorts can now have food, groceries and other essentials delivered right to their doorsteps courtesy of Grubhub.
In a July 17 press release, the Parsippany-based hotel franchisor said it will add the service across its entire U.S. portfolio of nearly 6,000 properties spanning 20 brands.
As part of the collaboration, new users will receive a complimentary, six-month Grubhub+ membership. The affiliation includes $0 delivery on eligible orders, lower services fees and 5% credit back on pickup orders.
To take advantage of the offering, customers can order via the Grubhub app while onsite at a participating hotel. Or, they can scan a QR code featured on hotel marketing materials, according to Wyndham.
Charmaine Taylor, senior vice president of strategic and financial partnership for Wyndham, said, “Travel should be enjoyable, not stressful—and that’s exactly what Grubhub helps deliver. Whether it’s a late-night craving, forgotten essentials or a last-minute need like a phone charger, anyone at one of our hotels can now get what they need, when they need it. With the added perks of Grubhub+, convenience and comfort are just a few taps away.”
With more than 60,000 hotels, vacation club resorts and vacation rentals globally, Wyndham is considered the world’s largest hotel franchising company. Its portfolio of brands includes AmericInn, Super 8, Days Inn, La Quinta, Hawthorn Suites, Trademark Collection and Wyndham.
The arrangement with Grubhub comes about two months after Wyndham updated its top-rated rewards program to include an industry-first collaboration with casual dining brand Applebee’s. The offering allows rewards members staying at any Wyndham hotel to earn points when they place a to-go order from their Wyndham app with any of the over 1,500 Applebee’s locations across the U.S.
Additionally, they can receive free delivery.
Grubhub Vice President and General Manager for Campus and Hospitality Rob DelaCruz added, “Wyndham has one of the largest footprints of any major hotel company in the U.S. Together, we’re elevating the on-property experience, delivering seamless convenience for not only the hundreds of thousands of guests that walk through their doors every year, but also the tens of thousands of hotel team members who make those hotel stays possible.”
Hotel Dive noted that Grubhub previously had smaller collaborations with Choice Hotels International and Hilton. Those deals brought online ordering to more than 500 hotels and 2,600 hotels, respectively.
In May, Extended Stay America became the latest hotel chain to team up with Grubhub, when it brought the offering to its 700-plus hotels. The deal marked the first hotel tie-up since Wonder acquired Grubhub last fall for $650 million.
Through that deal, the food truck-turned-food-hall concept founded by billionaire entrepreneur Marc Lore gained a nationwide network of restaurants and delivery people to support its planned expansion efforts. Additionally, Grubhub offers third-party delivery for Wonder’s more than 50 eateries across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Based in New York City, Wonder has its R&D facilities in Parsippany.
