National Retail Solutions is teaming up with to bring digital ordering and capabilities to independent merchants nationwide.

As part of a newly announced collaboration, small businesses supported by the Newark-based point-of-sale platform can now offer their customers remote ordering for delivery or in-store pick-up via the Grubhub app.

According to NRS, key features of integrating with Grubhub include streamlined operations, centralized management, and real time menu and inventory syncing. Grubhub also allows retailers to use analytics to gain insights into in-store and delivery sales performance, NRS said.

Founded in 2015, NRS aims to help independent retailers compete with chain stores by providing them with affordable POS systems and retail operations technology. Its network incudes convenience stores, bodegas, grocery stores and sundries sellers.

With thousands of active terminals across the U.S. and Canada, the custom-built POS system includes features such as inventory management, sales tracking and marketing tools, empowering store owners to compete and thrive against the competition.

Local support

A leading ordering and delivery marketplace in the U.S., Grubhub features over 415,000 merchants in more than 4,000 cities. Fast-growing food hall concept acquired the platform earlier this year for $650 million to help support its expansion goals.

Other key acquisitions made by Wonder include meal kit provider Blue Apron for $103 million in November 2023. Earlier this month, Wonder announced plans to purchase Sweetgreen’s automated kitchen technology business Spyce for $186.4 million.

Stephanie Grammel, director of integrations & solutions at Grubhub, shared, “Local businesses are essential to the fabric of their communities, and this integration is about helping them thrive in a digital-first world. By embedding Grubhub directly into the NRS point-of-sale system, we are making it easier for independent retailers to expand their reach, serve customers on their terms, and unlock new revenue streams — without adding operational complexity.”
