Ocean Casino Resort in unveiled plans April 14 for the next $50 million in property-wide capital investments set for 2025.

The projects are part of a seven-year, $270 million transformation Ocean has been rolling out since its June 2018 debut, after taking over the former short-lived Revel Casino Hotel.

As part of the latest round of upgrades, the resort property is introducing more than 500 new Blu Rooms and Suites, new dining options, a casino expansion as well as new entertainment and retail offerings.

Slated projects for 2025:

559 new Ocean Blu Rooms & Suites

This year’s $25 million investment marks the culmination of a multiyear effort to transform all 1,860 guest rooms and suites at the property. The design of the new Blu Rooms and Suites “is inspired by colors and patterns of the shoreline,” according to Ocean. The bathrooms will feature marble flooring, double vanity and an over-sized shower. The newly built suites will offer additional amenities, such as a dining area, wet bar and lounge seating.

New dining options

In addition to the two new recently announced concepts from James Beard Award winner Stephen Starr set to open this summer – a more than $5 million investment – Ocean will unveil additional food and beverage options.

Based on a South Jersey and Philadelphia area favorite, LaScala’s Fire at Ocean will offer classic house-made Italian American cuisine. Menu items will include: ricotta board, cheesesteak eggrolls, pastas, gourmet pizzas, and oversized entrees ranging from chicken parmesan to grilled salmon.

Slated to open in early summer LaScala’s Fire at Ocean will be located on the Casino Level across from Villain & Saint.

The two other new dining options are High Steaks in The District, featuring a menu centered on premium steaks, and Blend. Offering smoothies and acai bowls, Blend is set to open at the end of May on Ocean’s Lobby Level next to Eclipse Pool.

Casino expansion

A $4 million investment, Ocean will introduce a larger Asian Gaming space by this summer. R2Architects designed the project. The work will double the space to 8,000 square feet. The expanded area will offer 32 gaming tables including mini baccarat and pai gow poker.

Featuring $500,000 immersive holograms, the new multimillion-dollar entertainment center will open later this summer next to LaScala’s Fire. This two-story, 8,000-square-foot venue will employ technology used at The Sphere in Las Vegas.

Last but not least, retail & relaxation

For those wanting to beat the heat, women’s clothing boutique and gift store Sweetheart Coast will open in early summer within the Shops at the Row.

But for those wanting to soak up even more time in the sun (or shade), Ocean’s 20 beachfront acres have expanded for this season, thanks to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers’ multimillion-dollar project to replenish the sand on New Jersey’s coastline.

Hotel room completion

“Ocean continues to invest in property enhancements that enable us to provide an unmatched guest experience not only in Atlantic City, but nationwide,” Ocean General Manager Bill Callahan said in a statement. “This year also marks an exciting milestone as we complete the entire hotel with fully renovated guest rooms and suites.”

Previous upgrades at the AC Beachfront LLC-owned property include other hotel rooms and suites, gaming options and new food and beverage outlets.

In the most recent gaming report from the state Division of Gaming Enforcement, Ocean was the third-best performing casino in 2024. The property reported gross operating profit of $101.3 million (down 13.6% from the year prior). It was also the second-best Atlantic City hotel property last year for occupancy rate, at 82.2%.
