Pitney Hardin and Day, Berry & Howard will merge to create the law firm Day Pitney. The new mega-firm will boast approximately 400 attorneys and nine offices in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Boston and Washington, D.C., upon completion of the merger by Jan. 1, 2007.
Florham Park-based Pitney HardinÂs specialties include telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, utilities and franchise law, says the firm, which has been located in New Jersey for more than 100 years. Hartford, Conn.-based Day, Berry & Howard maintains a national energy practice and cites technology, commercial litigation, and environmental, international and business law among its specialties.
Dennis LaFiura, managing partner at Pitney Hardin, said the merger will allow Day Pitney to attract new clients in different regional markets and gain increased traction in the Northeast. Jim Sicilian, chair of the executive committee at Day, Berry & Howard, called the merger a Ânatural choice as both firms Âembrace similar core values focused on client service, and most importantly, we share the goal of expanding our capabilities in the Northeast market, including New York.Â
