Among UNICEF USA‘s latest board appointments is an executive from Prudential Financial Inc.’s Inclusive Solutions department who also chairs The Prudential Foundation.
The United Nations Children’s Fund announced four appointments to its national board of directors June 28, including Pru Senior Vice President Lata Reddy.
Effective July 1, Reddy’s membership was announced along with Eaton Investment Holdings Managing Member Steve Eaton, The Chartis Group co-founder and CEO Ken Graboys, and Instacart Chief Marketing Officer Laura Jones.
According to a statement from UNICEF USA President and CEO Michael Nyenhuis, “Each brings experience, leadership and expertise to help UNICEF drive change and relentlessly pursue a better world for every child.”
That mission is reflected in Reddy’s work at Prudential and in her experience. According to UNICEF, her programmatic expertise and leadership in the foundation space provides a unique perspective to the organization’s large-scale transformational partnerships. Additionally, Reddy’s leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion strategies, along with driving financial and social mobility, “brings a valuable perspective as the board engages more deeply in this work,” UNICEF said.
Under Reddy’s leadership, Prudential became one of the first institutional investors to grow and manage an impact investing portfolio with $1 billion in assets under management. Additionally, she oversees a yearly grant-making budget of over $40 million through The Prudential Foundation, and a $17 million corporate contributions budget.
“Prudential has supported UNICEF USA since 2006, evolving our approach to ensure financial resiliency is a critical part of disaster preparedness and relief for families,” Reddy said in a prepared statement. “I’m honored to join the UNICEF USA board as we collaborate to reimagine global resilience and prepare our communities to withstand future crises.”
Reddy is also chair of the Newark Alliance and serves on the board of several local and national organizations, including Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation and the advisory board for the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance — a program of the Obama Foundation; she is also a member of the Aspen Global Leaders Network.
