Global law firm has new leadership in its office.

Diane Bettino stepped down after 11 years as office managing partner. In a June 16 press release, the firm named financial services group member Nicholas Valvanis as her successor.

Since joining Reed Smith in 2005, Valvanis has built a nationwide practice advising multinational banks in complex lending transactions. He’s also gained “a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities clients face in today’s competitive environment,” the firm said.

Julie Hardin is managing partner of Reed Smith’s Americas division. “Nick has been with the firm for 20 years and has earned the trust of clients and colleagues through his strong commitment to exceptional service and his passion for mentoring and talent development,” Hardin said. “His collaborative leadership style and client-first mindset will serve the Princeton office well.”

Commenting on his promotion, Valvanis said, “I’m thrilled to assume this role and look forward to building on Diane’s outstanding achievements.”

“Our Princeton lawyers understand the needs of the region’s most dynamic industries—from life sciences and medical devices to renewable energy, transportation, and financial services,” the Rutgers Law School alumnus added. “Together, we will continue delivering sophisticated business and legal solutions.”

According to Reed Smith, Bettino will continue her legal practice advising financial services clients. She will also serve on the firm’s executive committee.
