Rise Dispensaries is set to host a free expungement clinic and resource fair in Newark.
Scheduled for April 28 at Down Bottom Farms (371-395 Ferry St.), the event is being presented in partnership with New Jersey-based public resource center Blaze Responsibly and local nonprofit Ironbound Community Corp. It will run from 5–8 p.m., Rise said.
According to Rise, onsite attorneys will help adults age 21 and up with free expungements for nonviolent marijuana-related convictions. Click here to register.
During the event, the following organizations will also participate:
SIRV Mobile Barbershop will provide free haircuts to the community, too.
Additionally, Rise parent company Green Thumb Industries will distribute information on jobs within the company. The multistate operator has recreational dispensaries in Bloomfield and Paterson, as well as a medicinal storefront in Paramus.
During prior clinics in recent years in New Jersey, Rise estimates it has assisted hundreds of individuals with expungement support and criminal history reports.
According to Rise, the partnership with Blaze Responsibly come as part of a broader mission to foster positive change through community engagement, inclusion, restorative justice and environmental stewardship.
