Rutgers University and the city of New Brunswick have signed a shared services agreement through which Rutgers will provide fire and police dispatch services, beginning July 1.Rutgers University and the city of New Brunswick have signed a shared services agreement through which Rutgers will provide fire and police dispatch services, beginning July 1.

The New Brunswick City Council approved $362,103 to cover the first six months of the agreement, which is projected to save the town $2.6 million in five years.

The New Brunswick Police Department and the Rutgers University Police Department work together to conduct joint patrols in off-campus neighborhoods and at Big Ten football games.

New Brunswick municipal dispatch employees may apply for jobs with Rutgers dispatch.
