South Jersey dispensary to host cat adoption event

Cats, cannabis and community are coming together at a South Jersey dispensary.

As part of an April 26 adoption pop-up, in Merchantville is teaming up with local rescue groups to connect adoptable cats with loving homes.

The event is billed as “an afternoon focused on cat adoption, rescue awareness and .” It is scheduled to run from noon to 5 p.m.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet cats and kittens from participating rescue organizations in a welcoming setting. Partner groups include Community Cat Club, Pebbles Purpose and Cheshire Cat Rescue & Sanctuary.

A Gynsyng spokesperson said the upcoming event will revolve around “community, compassion, and creating meaningful connections.”

“We’re excited to welcome our rescue partners to Merchantville and give residents the chance to meet adoptable cats and kittens while supporting organizations doing important work in our region,” they said.

Located in a former Rite Aid pharmacy on South Centre Street, the female-owned and operated dispensary opened two years ago. The location holds distinction as one of the first four businesses approved by the state last summer to launch on-site cannabis consumption lounges.

Gynsyng noted that there will be no consumption in the lounge during the April 26 cat adoption program.

The dispensary also added that the pop-up highlights its “continued focus on hosting community-centered experiences in Merchantville.” Just a few of the happenings on Gynsyng’s calendar include paint & puff, free movie screenings and comedy nights.
