During a June 5 signing ceremony in Galloway, Stockton University officially joined the NJ PLAN initiative, powered by Thomas Edison State University.
NJ PLAN, or the New Jersey Prior Learning Assessment Network, helps students earn college credits for what they already know. It offers students the chance to be assessed for college-level knowledge acquired outside the traditional classroom. That experience could include work, military training, community service and more.
Ultimately, NJ PLAN results in faster degree completion, reduced tuition costs and less student debt. Under the latest collaboration, Stockton students will have expanded access to TESU’s nationally recognized Credit for Prior learning options.
“This partnership reflects Stockton’s commitment to meeting students where they are – recognizing their unique experiences, supporting their academic journeys, and helping them achieve their educational goals more efficiently and affordably,” said Michael Palladino, Stockton provost and vice president for academic affairs. “Student success is a strategic priority for the university.”
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to providing flexible, affordable, pathways to degree attainment for New Jersey’s students,” said TESU Provost Cynthia Baum. “Stockton University‘s participation in NJ PLAN gives their students greater access to innovative tools that recognize the real value of experiential learning and help them move forward with purpose.”
Palladino added, “By embracing innovative approaches like Credit for Prior Learning, we are empowering our diverse student body to accelerate degree completion, reduce costs, and ultimately transform their lives and communities through education.”
