Retail giant is coming to Flemington with a new, 75,000-square-foot store.

Levin Management Corp. announced Target as the incoming anchor tenant at , just off the Flemington Circle, Nov. 20.

The Plainfield-based commercial real estate services firm serves as exclusive leasing and managing agent for the 239,000-square-foot community center located at 325 Route 202. LMC Senior Leasing Representative Vanessa Kelty arranged the lease on behalf of property ownership, an institutional client of New York Life Real Estate Investors. Ripco Real Estate Vice Chairman Jeff Howard served as tenant broker.

Target takes over a former Burlington space at Flemington Marketplace. The store will include a Starbucks and CVS Pharmacy. According to LMC, aesthetic upgrades are also in the works for the shopping center, with municipal zoning and land use approvals already secured. The plans include EV charging stations, façade and sidewalk updates, designated areas for online order pickups and more.

“This significant transaction reflects positive movement among major retail brands within the regional marketplace and underscores our team’s contributions toward maximizing competitive positioning for clients’ properties,” Kelty commented.

According to reports, Burlington moved within Flemington in 2023. The Burlington-based retailer also opened a new store Nov. 1 at Bridgewater Promenade. That store took over Bed Bath & Beyond’s old Bridgewater location.

The right mix

In Flemington, Target joins co-anchors Kohl’s, Michaels and Aldi. Other tenants include: Chili’s, Panera Bread, Hallmark, Verizon Wireless, Poke Café (opening soon), Cold Stone Creamery and Nail Imagine Nail Spa.

“Tenant mix is a big part of ensuring a shopping center’s long-term success, and adding a quality anchor tenant like Target is a real win both for Flemington Marketplace and the entire community,” Kelty added.

According to data from Placer.ai, Flemington Marketplace draws 1.9 million shoppers annually. In October 2024, approximately 150,600 people visited the center.

LMC highlighted its relationships with national brands, like Target, in its announcement. The Flemington commitment is the second recent agreement with the retailer. In West Orange, Target will take over a former Kmart space at another property leased and managed by LMC. The new 211,500-square-foot location comes amid a multimillion-dollar redevelopment of West Orange Plaza.

Target also added a sixth store in Middlesex County this spring.
