TD Bank has elevated Jill Gateman to head of U.S. Commercial Banking, the Mount Laurel-based financial institution announced July 6.
The move is part of the bank’s reorganization of its corporate, commercial, small business and regional banking segments under one leader, according to TD Bank.
In September 2024, TD Bank named Gateman and Andy Bregenzer as co-heads of U.S. Commercial Banking following longtime executive Chris Giamo’s retirement from TD.
In a LinkedIn post this month, Bregenzer said, “After 24 rewarding years with the bank, it’s time for me to begin a new chapter.”
In the integrated role, Gateman will take on myriad responsibilities. According to TD Bank, she will lead the end-to-end delivery of products, capabilities and client coverage across its integrated commercial banking platform, including:
Previously, Bregenzer focused on leading all aspects of regional commercial banking, including small business. Gateman led TD Bank’s national commercial banking efforts, according to the 2024 personnel announcement.
NJBIZ has reached out to TD Bank for more information about the leadership structure change.
Gateman joined TD in 2023 to lead the bank’s middle market, asset-based and sponsor-backed finance business segments.
Before TD, she held various leadership positions with PNC Bank for 17 years. Gateman also worked with Sagamore Partners and Avalon Equity Partners LP, according to her LinkedIn profile. She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Rutgers University.
In fall 2025, TD Bank found a creative way to connect with its customers – and their four-legged friends. Find out here.
“Jill is an exceptional leader who has been instrumental in advancing TD’s Commercial Banking business,” TD Bank U.S. President and CEO Leo Salom said in a statement. “She has consistently translated a strong strategic vision into results – strengthening our platform, expanding our capabilities, improving how we serve clients and developing top teams.
“As head of commercial banking, Jill will take us into this next phase by bringing our teams and capabilities together to deliver a deeply integrated, high-performing Commercial franchise,” Salom added.
TD Bank also credited Gateman with leading efforts to enhance client solutions and offerings, strengthen core businesses and invest in new AI-enabled tools and digital innovation.
In a LinkedIn post, Gateman said, “I’m incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of Head of the Commercial Bank at TD, now with an expanded mandate that brings together Corporate & Specialty Finance, Regional Commercial and Small Business. When I joined TD in 2023, I couldn’t have imagined the incredible people, clients, and opportunities that would be ahead.”
The business integration follows several other shifts at TD Bank. In December 2025, the bank restructured its Mid-South Metro segment into two new regions – the Mid-Atlantic Metro and Southeast Metro. New Jersey is included in the Mid-Atlantic Metro.
That followed its headquarters move from Cherry Hill to Mount Laurel a few months prior. Last fall, TD Bank also welcomed a new U.S. general counsel and a new U.S. chief financial officer.
Earlier this year, the bank shuttered four dozen branches nationwide, including eight in New Jersey, amid a “reimagining” of its retail distribution model and changing consumer banking expectations.
