TD appoints US small business head to boost entrepreneur support

TD Bank is shifting its ranks to designate a lead for banking nationwide.

The financial institution with U.S. headquarters in Cherry Hill announced Chris Ward as head of U.S. small business banking Aug. 6. Following the promotion, he will lead efforts to connect small business customers to relevant banking products, services and advice.

Ward previously served as regional president of Mid-South Metro. He joined TD in 2024 with more than 35 years’ experience in . The bank said the move underscores a commitment to improving TD’s small business strategy.

Andy Bregenzer, head of small business and regional banking and co-head of U.S. commercial banking, said TD is committed to supporting these customers. He noted Ward’s “strong track record of leadership, deep industry knowledge and a passion for serving small business customers.

“His appointment reiterates our ongoing commitment to delivering even more value to and small business owners,” Bregenzer added.

Ward now oversees small business banking strategy and growth of the segment, the bank said.

holds distinction as the top Small Business Administration lender in New Jersey. According to the most-recent data, the institution provided 412 loans in the Garden State totaling $65.4 million as of April 29. In 2024, it also topped the national rankings — for the eighth year in a row.
