After unveiling plans to add a new store in Woodbridge, nautically themed grocery chain Trader Joe’s expects to launch a location in West Orange.
Although the California-based company confirmed to Montclair Local it is looking to open in the township, details on where or when were not shared with the media outlet.
However, Montclair Local and TapInto West Orange both reported that the grocer will join the lineup at Mount Pleasant Plaza. According to reports, No Limits Martial Arts Studio and Metropolitan Plant + Flower Exchange will relocate to make room for Trader Joe’s.
The news comes two months after Trader Joe’s confirmed a store in Woodbridge, where it will take over a former Bed Bath & Beyond store on Route 1. A timeline for opening has not been revealed, but the chain has said it aims to open in 2025.
Founded in 1967, Trader Joe’s is known for its upbeat crew members, friendly customer service, and competitive pricing on a unique variety of seasonal and private-label food items. The banner especially focuses on gourmet, organic and specialty goods, as well as frozen food products.

Following the launch of 34 locations last year, Trader Joe’s is working to open “dozens” of outposts in 2025, trade publication Progressive Grocer reported.
As part of its expansion strategy, the grocer aims to bolster its presence in states where it already has a footprint rather than moving into new states, Grocery Dive noted.
Upcoming stores include Washington, D.C. (two), Texas (two), South Carolina (one), Oklahoma (one), Pennsylvania (two), Colorado (one), Massachusetts (one), New York (two), Louisiana (one), California (four), Maryland (one), Alabama (one) and Washington (one).
