Two N.J. insurance agencies merge

A pair of family-owned insurance agencies announced their merger Tuesday.The transaction joins Meeker Sharkey Associates of Cranford with James F. Hurley Insurance Agency of Bedminster.

“In an increasingly competitive insurance marketplace, our agencies are a good match to continue our mutual traditions of comprehensive client service, dedicated agents, personal attention and customized commercial risk management and benefit strategies for business clients and public entities,” Tom Sharkey Jr., chairman and president of Meeker Sharkey Associates, said in a news release.

Meeker Sharkey focuses primarily on the commercial market, while James F. Hurley Insurance Agency offers personal and commercial insurance products.

“Like Meeker Sharkey, we are a family-owned business with a long history and a shared philosophy of always putting the needs of our clients first,” Craig Sutherland, president of James F. Hurley Insurance Agency, added. “The merger is good for our customers and ensures they will continue to receive personalized attention for all of their insurance needs. We will be able to offer more services and products to our commercial clients and individuals who need personal insurance such as auto and homeowners coverage.”
