Weiss Realty subsidiary secures lease in Illinois’ Commerce Park

A subsidiary of Moonachie-based Weiss Realty Co. leased 161,000 square feet at Commerce Park in Decatur, Ill., with Stripmasters Services Inc. 

Weiss announced the transaction by Queenanne Realty LLC, based in Chicago, on Aug. 19. 

In the announcement, Weiss President Jaime Weiss described the park as “an ideal business location with domestic and international capabilities with close proximity to air, rail and 5 major highways.” 

Located on 147 acres off U.S. Route 51 and Interstate 72 in the Decatur-Macon County Enterprise Zone, Commerce Park is adjacent to the ADM Intermodal Ramp, convenient for shipping-container processing, the firm said. 

“The park’s size, location to major Midwest markets, unparalleled utility and rail infrastructure makes it a solid choice for new and expanding businesses alike,” Nicole Bateman, president of the Economic Development Corp. of Decatur-Macon County, said in a statement. 

Bateman said the park consistently ranks in the top 10 in the nation by Business Facilities magazine. 

Decatur is home to the Midwest Inland Port, a multi-modal hub with access to multiple railroads and more than 99 million consumers within a 500-mile radius, Weiss said in the announcement.  

Weiss Realty’s masterplan includes a proposed expansion of 488,000 to 1.3 million square feet of warehouse space in up to three buildings within the next three years.
