Chris Cowan joined Florham Park-based accounting and business advisory firm Wiss as partner in its construction services group. Cowan spent the past four years providing accounting and audit services at CohnReznick.
“With the federal government’s proposed investments on roads, mass transit and rail projects, much of which will impact New Jersey, we are seeing greater demand for accounting and advisory services in the construction space,” said Paul Peterson, managing partner of Wiss, in a prepared statement on June 23. “Chris will be instrumental in helping guide clients and build out our construction services’ practice.”
Cowan began his career at Cowan, Gunteski & Co., providing leadership and oversight to construction clients for more than a decade.
He’s a member of the Construction Financial Management Association, New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Builders Association and the Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey.
In 2011, Cowan made the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants’s inaugural 30 Under 30 list. He was on NJBIZ’s 40 Under 40 in 2017 and in 2021, Cowan was named to the Construction Financial Management Association’s first-ever 40 under 40.
“Having spent the majority of my career servicing the construction industry, I am eager to contribute to an organization that shares the same passion and dedication to construction as I do,” Cowan said of his new employer.
