Rendering for It’Sugar at American Dream. – AMERICAN DREAM
A 60-foot replica of Lady Liberty will soon welcome you to a land of new and different opportunities. This time, you better bring your sweet tooth.
It’Sugar, the world’s first candy department store, is slated to open at the American Dream mega-mall in East Rutherford sometime after the mall opens on Oct. 25.
The first-of-its-kind store will span 22,000 square feet over three levels and feature more than 10,000 candy choices. The concept was created by founder and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Rubin, one of the co-founders of New York-based sweets brand Dylan’s Candy Bar.
“This concept has been a dream of mine for over 25 years and our It’Sugar team is thrilled to partner with American Dream to finally make it a reality,” Rubin said in a statement.
It’Sugar’s American Dream location will be the world’s largest non-manufacturer candy store. Located within the mall’s entertainment atrium, it will be adjacent to the DreamWorks Water Park entrance and near Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park and the property’s NHL-size ice rink.
It’Sugar has over 100 locations in 28 states, including four smaller New Jersey locations in Atlantic City, Tinton Falls, Ocean City and Wildwood.
The company’s mission, according to a statement, is to work to a future “where everyone has access to the pure joy that comes from indulging in a world with fewer rules and more sugar.”
An official opening date hasn’t been announced yet.
