Zelis is expanding its leadership team with a new executive versed in sales, employee benefits, regional management, strategy and growth.

Sue Schick, who brings more than 30 years’ experience in the health plan industry to the Bedminster-based company, was named president and chief chief revenue officer, according to an April 3 announcement.

Schick’s experience covers a combination of sales leadership and profit and loss ownership roles, including commercial and government business lines, Zelis said. Most recently she worked at Humana as president, Group & Military, where she was responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the company’s Employer Group products. She also led the Military Business at Humana, the nation’s largest Medical Services contractor, according to Zelis, providing service to active duty and retired military and their eligible family members through the Defense Health Agency, TRICARE.

Her success in scaling teams and processes to achieve multibillion-dollar revenue targets will help drive us into the next chapter of growth,” said CEO Amanda Eisel in a statement.

Before Humana, Schick spent 16 years in various leadership positions with UnitedHealth Group in its Medicaid and Commercial businesses, in addition to executive sales roles at CIGNA and Marsh.

She takes over for Patrick O’Keefe. In a statement, Eisel thanked O’Keefe, describing him as “a critical part of our leadership team and an exemplary partner to our clients for the past six years.”

According to the company, O’Keefe has chosen to now serve as senior advisor to the CEO.

“I’ve spent most of my career in health care and have been an advocate of affordability and helping people achieve their optimum health,” Schick said in a prepared statement. “I’m excited to join Zelis in its mission to modernize the health care financial experience for all.”

The company’s work aims to reinvent how health care is priced and paid for. Zelis’ platform seeks to bridge gaps in the sector’s financial system by aligning interests of payers, providers and consumers. According to the company, it has more than 700 payer clients, 1 million enrolled providers and a 120% client retention rate.

“There’s no better time than now to work across the interest of payers, providers, and consumers to transform the business of health care into a simpler and more transparent experience,” Schick added.
